Expansion to bring new services to surgeons and patients in the Northeast
Advancements in corneal transplant surgery are developing at a rapid pace and Eversight Connecticut is preparing to deliver the latest eye banking services with its new state-of-the-art facility .
“ New surgical techniques and tissue processing methods are giving patients better visual outcomes than ever before ,” said Eversight Connecticut Executive Director Ryan Cady . “ Our investment in the new facility allows us to support these advancements and ensure that the people of Connecticut have access to the best quality care .”
Currently , Eversight Connecticut operates in a 2,564 square foot facility , which houses both administrative and clinical functions .
“ The staff has done a fantastic job of maximizing the utility of their existing space ,” said Eversight Facilities Manager Jennie Dalton . “ But with the support of the Eversight network , we have the resources to expand our capabilities and deliver the same exceptional services as the other network affiliates .”
Plans for the new facility include a 5,000 + square foot building constructed to meet industry-leading standards developed by Eversight . Highly trained lab technicians will be able to prepare tissue in specialized processing rooms using the latest eye banking equipment . To accommodate the organization ’ s growing research activities , the lab will also have workspaces available for interns , visiting fellows and residents .
In addition , Eversight Connecticut will have the ability to host leadership and community meetings in its new conference space .
“ We hope to create a space that serves as a central hub for surgical and research tissue in the Northeast , as well as a place for community and professional collaboration to further the impact of our mission ,” said Cady .
Eversight Connecticut is currently seeking location options in the Metro Hartford area . Construction is expected to begin by early 2017 .
