the Young Musicians programme is host to a nonresidential course for wouldbe conductors which includes technical advice in addition to valuable podium time with participating orchestras. open to those aged 16- 25 who play a musical instrument at a minimum level of Grade 8 distinction.

Orchestral Summer School
MUSic EDUcation cEntrE, 10aM-4pM
a non-residential summer school for 8-16 year olds who have reached at least Grade 1 level. including sessions in Dalcroze and Kodály with tutors from the national Youth String orchestra, plus opportunities to play side-byside with visiting orchestras.
cost: £ 100 for the five-day course

Open Studio Summer School

a non-residential summer school for 8 to 16 years olds. participants have the chance to meet others with the same interests, explore musical experiences, play in an ensemble or band and perform at Sage Gateshead during the course.
