Event Safety Alliance
Receives 2017 Live Design
Achievement Award
In June, Event Safety Alli-
ance was awarded a 2017 Live De-
sign Achievement Award, which rec-
ognizes individuals and organizations
for their exemplary contributions to
production design and support. Lin-
coln Center’s Senior Director of Pro-
duction Randall Etheridge presented
ESA Vice President Steven Adelman
with the honor, explaining his orga-
nization’s introduction to the ESA and
their surprise at discovering a commu-
nity of professionals passionate about a
subject often pushed to the back burn-
ers. In accepting the award, Adelman
revisited the origins of the ESA, as well
as the organization’s current priorities and vision for the future. Before ending his remarks, he challenged
the audience to continue doing everything possible to support an industry culture that puts life safety first.
While unable to attend the award ceremony himself, ESA Founder Jim Digby shared his thoughts on the
honor via social media.
“Thank you to Live Design Magazine for the recognition and to Randall Etheridge of the Lincoln
Center for your heartfelt introduction. Safety isn’t “sexy”, but it’s unquestionably the most important
value we share as professionals. The tremendous success of the Event Safety Alliance is a reflection
of our industry’s collective determination to learn from the past and create a safer future for ev-
eryone. While this award may bear our name, it belongs to everyone who has taken steps to help
create a culture that puts life safety first. Thank you for allowing us to channel your spirit, creativity,
and dedication in pursuit of that goal.”
