MINDEF CARNIVAL 2013
MINDEF is one of the ministries which required the biggest allocation for emolument, infrastructure, facilities and buy military equipment in order to achieve their operational objective and mission.
On the 5th October, an event organized by the Ministry of Defence was held at Kluang Square, Johor. The carnival had started from 5th October and end on 6th October 2013. The carnival starts at 9.00 am until 5.00 pm and is opened to the public. This carnival is an annual event that is sponsored by Malaysia’s Ministry of Defense which aims to give public awareness in an up close and effective way to the multi-racial community about the role, function, and the responsibilities of the general defense ministry and the armed forces of Malaysia specifically about Malaysia’s security, peace, and the progress of this country and other agencies.
This carnival was launched by Y.B Dato Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein which is Malaysia’s Minister of defense. Y.B Dato Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein have announced that National Service Training Department will introduce to new sub-module at National Service Training Program camps which aims to make sure that Malaysia citizen specifically young generation to have a high patriotism spirit and to understand the basis of National Sovereignty.
At this carnival there are many stalls that can be visited by visitors for example Department of information booth, Artillery Regiment Detector booth, Military booth, Survival Village booth and others. From one of those booths there is one booth call survival village. At Survival Village booth visitor can gained some knowledge about the life of the soldier when living in the wood or jungle which is setting a snare, lighting a fire from natural resources and building a shelter in the jungle.
The main attraction at this carnival is the weapon and tanks exhibition which display weapon use by the Malaysian Army from the early ages till now. For example sniper rifle, pistols, machine gun, bazooka and sub- machine gun. Other than that, visitor gets to see and experience the atmosphere in being in an armored vehicle such as tanks, light vehicle, army personal carrier and other.
