Celebrating 21 Years of Conservation Success
When you think of Kiawah Island, what comes to mind first? To many of us it is the beautiful beach,
to others it is the ever-changing marsh, and to still others it is the quiet of the Kiawah River. If there
is one thing we can agree upon though, it is that we all cherish the opportunity we have to see
wildlife almost daily. Kiawah’s unique setting allows native landscapes, wildlife, and people to
coexist, and it is the responsibility of each of us as part of this very special community to protect this
delicate balance.
The Kiawah Conservancy is committed to understanding the critical natural habitat needed to
maintain a healthy, balanced, and diverse population of native plants and animals on Kiawah
Island. Its support of research, educational forums, community outreach, land preservation, and
habitat enhancement programs are but a few examples of the Conservancy’s efforts to fulfill this
commitment.
Thanks to each of you and your support, we have made great strides these past 21 years, and, with
your help, the Kiawah Conservancy will continue to preserve and maintain that which we all hold
dear for our enjoyment and for the enjoyment of generations to come. As we celebrate what has
been accomplished, we look forward to what lies ahead.
This is our “Legacy for Kiawah Island.”
We thank you for being part of it!
