Meet Cindy Neal
The Mystery and the Magic is the latest edition of the wildlife
documentaries produced by the Kiawah Conservancy and
directed by acclaimed international wildlife film director,
Cindy Neal.
Neal began her career in radio production and soon found
her love for the creative outlet it provided her. She traveled
into the depths of Africa and to the swamps of Mississippi
filming rare species that few would have ever seen without
the documentation of her films. A regular contributor to the
US Forest Service, Ducks Unlimited, and US Fish and Wildlife
Service, she has the national reputation as the most award
winning director in her field.
The Mystery and the Magic is the fourth in the Kiawah
Conservancy’s series of wildlife films addressing the habitat and environment of Kiawah
Island. These films have been selected for showings at national and international film
festivals. Tonight’s film provides information on the elusive bobcats of Kiawah. It took two
years of filming for Neal and her experienced crew to produce enough footage to give us
the true adventure these cats encounter as residents of Kiawah.
Tonight will be the premier showing. A Symposium dedicated to the research and people
responsible for tracking and maintaining our bobcat population will be held on March 26,
2019 at the Sandcastle. More information about this presentation will be available in the
