One of the biggest draws of the two-day event was The Building Back Better – A New Future For Live Events conference session , which saw Live Nation EVP touring international Phil Bowdery , AEG Presents CEO European festivals Jim King and Black Deer Festival co-founder

The trio of experienced promoters discussed topics including developments with Government-backed events cancellation insurance , the Events Research Programme , the importance of protecting the independent sector , progress made by unprecedented industry collaboration and how the industry should work together to avoid the market being saturated in the period following its reopening . Despite working for a major international corporation , King emphasised the importance of a healthy independent festival sector . He said , “ Festivals are an incredibly risky business , from an independent ’ s perspective the stakes are so , so , high . I would advocate against anyone doing anything that could jeopardise their future because the fabric of what we do is the independent sector .
