Lucky Thompson , senior director , events and operations at AEG Presents , will be speaking on the ‘ Rise of women in sport and entertainment ’ panel on Day One of EPS . Lucky , who was appointed by AEG in December , oversees the promoter ’ s Cornerstone Events Division , which includes Summer Series , C2C , Eden Sessions and Just for Laughs , as well as the delivery of all AEG Presents UK hosted events . Lucky was formerly the company ’ s director of touring .
Here she tells us what she is most looking forward to at EPS and the year ahead .
Congratulations on your new role , what are you looking forward to at AEG in 2023 ?
Where do I start , 2023 is set to be a big year at AEG Presents , we have three huge names in the industry joining AEG at the start of this year so we ’ re excited to get working with them to see what events we can produce together .
Why is your discussion on women in sport and entertainment an important one to have ?
There has been a huge amount of positive change over the last five years or so , but we still aren ’ t there with equality on so many levels , so it ’ s really important to keep discussing how we can work together to keep closing the gap .
What are you hoping to get out of the discussion ?
What are you hoping to get out of the discussion ? Raising awareness that we can all play our part in making positive change within the industry .
What else are you looking forward to at the event ?
As it ’ s my first time , a lot ! Though as is the nature of our industry , I ’ ll be having to multitask with a load in happening across the river as our first Just for Laughs festival @ The O2 will be in the final stages of the build , so I ’ m going to have to do a bit of hopping back and forth !
