Redeemed is a sustainable fashion collection that uses New Zealand
designer’s waste fabric and off-cuts, as well as pre-loved garments,
to create ethical outfits for all seasons of the year. The world is at its
tipping point due to over consumption and unsustainable fashion
practices that arise from the design, production and manufacture of
disposable garments. Redeemed focuses on re-using, re-shaping
and re-styling pre-loved clothing into new garments from landfill
breathing a new life into fashion wastage. Unfinished and raw edges
communicate the original form of the fabric as well as portraying
the world raw and threadbare, on the verge of unravelling or falling
apart. Redeemed’s colour pallet includes black, charcoal grey, red as
well as pop of mustard originating from the process of destruction,
explosions, as and general chaotic imagery. The selected colour
palette is achieved by the use of naturally made dyes and mordants,
creating the tones needed while working within the perimeters of
eco-friendly practices.
