1 ) Where are you from ? Where were you born ?
I was born in Houston , Texas . I was raised in a small port community called Galena Park . I moved to Wimberley , Texas in the late 90 ’ s .
2 ) How did the Show come about ?
That ’ s a long story . This story was originally a short story I wrote in the late 80 ’ s while I was in high school . When I learned to script in the early 90 ’ s , I decided to turn it and three others into a screen plays . By the late 90 ’ s it was already about 3 times as long as most feature films .
In 1998 , I cut it into two epically long feature scripts . I posted bits and pieces in every vampire forum and screen writers site I could find , hoping to get a little feedback , since there was absolutely nothing like it out there . No one at those places ever reads anyone ’ s work . They are just there to post their own . I didn ’ t know that then . I just wanted input on my characters and my art . I wanted to know if what I wrote made them feel what I feel for the characters and their histories and emotions . I wanted to know if they felt mercy for the killers or felt what Lugh ( our main character ) was doing was just .
No one responded with those kinds of comments . It was always like , “ Your script is neat . Check out mine here at this address and give to our project and blah blah blah …”. So I went recluse , put on my headphones , turned on some Black Label Society , and wrote . I decided I was gonna keep Lugh and the crew to myself and create a master trilogy . Funny now , looking back , the thought of selling it and letting someone change it up and make it into their own vision scared the hell out of me . It ’ s like I was keeping them ( the characters ) for myself .
When I got back on the internet , every bored house wife who ever wrote fan fiction or shallow novelist with minimal inspiration was writing vampire stories . The market was flooded . Since I was already pushing another project at the time , The Cursed was back-burnered and slept peacefully in my old desk top computer until 2004 , when I broke it out and started revamping dialogue and writing a third feature that picked up where the cliffhanger ending of the second feature left off .
In 2005 , I wrote a short film called Bleed . It was originally for Lugh , but I was too picky and couldn ’ t cast anyone . I had an image of Lugh that was so strong in my head , I couldn ’ t bear to cast someone who wasn ’ t perfect . So , I decided to make it about the lead female character Kara . We could never find anyone to play the role though . Six months later , it eventually became the working theme behind our band ’ s music video by the same name and theme , with me playing Kara . Surprisingly , it blew up on MySpace and our website , with over 600,000 views on each , from hundreds of countries worldwide .
That shocked and inspired me . It was “ On ” at that point . If our metal music video could use that theme and get that many views , what could the films do ?! That was 2005 … MySpace was the new thing and you could drop links in Yahoo Chat rooms to drive hits to your website ! Hahaha … Think of the difference in media since those days .
3 ) How did you pull the cast together ?
In late 2006 , I opened a Magick Shoppe . I gave card readings and made oils and incense etc . I was teaching screenplay writing and Magick 101 and writing in between . To my dismay , people started coming into my life that not only looked very similar to characters in The Cursed , but some of them even had similar names . Most of them are artisans of some sort , be it musician or otherwise . I was so
