Pretty In Ink
EVDG: DAVONNA how did you get started with Pretty in Ink?
DPINK: Pretty in Ink was started from the name of one of my favorite movies
“Pretty in Pink” the 80's movie before I had the tattoo across my belly and I used
to be on a page called “ Black Girls Ink” and when I posted my tattoo another
model “LUNA” the cofounder of Pretty In Ink wanted to get the tattoo as well so
I told her okay. Everything started with the tattooo and me and her had never met
because we are on different coast. So I posted a split image of our tattoos and
said all girls should rock this and girls all over the world started “Rocking” the
tattoo.
EVDG: So you turned a feeling into a brand?
DPINK: Exactly, and we decided to share and show females your heavily inked
but you are still pretty. The page started from the tattoos.
EVDG: How many followers are on the Pretty in Ink page.
DPINK: Close to 6000
EVDG: So with both of your individual pages to it's probably well over 8,000?
DPINK: Oh yes definitely. It really blew up and it shocked me.
EVDG: Are there plans for the brand?
DPINK: There are the instagram pages and the T-shirt line “Ink Rich” which came from Pretty In Ink.
And I am in development because “Pretty in Ink” is for females but I wanted everyone to rock the shirts and my partner
has project coming along as well on her end. Basically I am looking to start my own magazine.
EVDG: Well when someone is as heavily tatted as you are what is the care that is needed...
DPINK: I've never had any bad experiences from the healing of the tattoos. I just shower and it clean as normal I may
put something on there for the itching when it starts to flake but nothing special. I have been allergic to different
products so the simpler has always worked.
EVDG: Is there a particular tattoo artist
DPINK: Hung in San Diego for my big work. And Paul at Chapter One at Ocean Beach California.
EVDG: I noticed you have a lot of model worthy women on your page, how do you monitor that?
DPINK: We get a lot of inboxes and we will request photos from girls we
follow.
EVDG: Great , we look forward to working with you in 2015 and Thank you
for the interview
DPINK: Thank you too
