and snoring with her mouth open, suddenly reclines her seat back sending my ice cream flying. I consider remonstrating with her, explaining how uncivilised her behaviour is, notwithstanding her corpulence, but draw the conclusion that the chances of getting through to her are minimal. I’ ve had this before, on a long haul night flight to London where a mother with two fairly young children insisted on pushing the seats back even though her children were lying across the seats. We complained to the stewardess who said it was their right and an argument ensued which ended up with us being moved elsewhere on the plane. I would never dream of doing this. To me it is the height of rudeness, showing a total lack of consideration for your fellow traveller. If you are one of the people who do this- stop it right now!
More on Planes I hate night flights with a passion. My solution is travelling first class. Expensive yes but it is the only way to ameliorate the exigencies of this thoroughly unpleasant experience. Gone are the days of walking up and down wondering why everyone seats which convert into beds are was asleep over the Atlantic apart terrifically comfortable and the from me. Now I can toss and turn staff are lovely. Being greeted with on a flat bed and get a bit of sleep champagne and the first newspaper between dinner and a chat over I’ ve seen in 17 days on reaching drinks at the bar and breakfast my seat is very welcoming and served at 3.30 am. My most recent really and uncharacteristically, my flight was on Virgin Atlantic and I only complaint is that desperately must say I was was rather favourably ordinary food doesn’ t become impressed. It’ s actually quite a desperately good food simply by social experience and people are putting it on china plates. Also it far more chatty than in the more would be very nice if the toilets were common part of the plane. The a bit bigger. But that is all.
