Eurotransplant Annual Meeting 2015 General Assembly Chair: G. Laufer Report by: L. van Hattum The Eurotransplant Assembly consists of delegates from each transplant program within Eurotransplant, which are appointed by the heads of department. The Assembly meets once a year during the Eurotransplant Annual Meeting, which took place this year on Thursday, October 15. The meeting started with the elections for four positions in the Eurotransplant Board. In the tissue typing section, Prof.Dr. Süsal from Heidelberg was re-elected for another three-year term. Following, Prof.Dr. Laufer from Vienna, Austria, was reelected in the thoracic section. In the kidney section, five candidates were running for two vacancies. For the first vacancy, Prof.Dr. Heemann from Munich, Germany was re-elected in the first voting round. The second vacancy will be filled by Prof. Dr. Berlakovich from Vienna, Austria as decided after three very close voting rounds. After the elections, Prof. Meiser as President of the Board and Prof. Laufer as chairman of the Assembly awarded Dr. Oberhuber from Innsbruck, Austria with the 2015 Henk Schippers Young Investigator Award for his study on "Treatment With Tetrahydrobiopterin Overcomes Brain Death–Associated Injury in a Murine Model of Pancreas Transplantation” in presence of Mrs. Siebers, widow of Henk Schippers. Finally, Prof. Meiser informed the Assembly on the achievements of Eurotransplant and the Board in the past year and gave insight in the goals for the coming period. He informed the Assembly of the appointment of Dr. Branger as the new Eurotransplant General Director per April 1, 2015. Also, Prof. Rogiers was introduced as new vice-president of the Board following the retirement of Prof. Mühlbacher. Prof.Dr. Guba was appointed by the Board as chairman of the Information Services Working Group and Dr. Homan was appointed as new secretary/treasurer of the Board in May 2015, following the retirement of Prof.Dr. Van Montfort. Prof. Meiser also mentioned the renewal of the ENIS system that will be performed in the coming three years, to reduce costs and to improve system flexibility, security and user friendliness. The community will be kept informed on the proceedings. At the end of his presentation, Prof. Meiser thanked Prof. Mühlbacher for his work on the Eurotransplant Board as Board member A, vicepresident, member of the Eurotransplant Kidney Advisory Committee and chairman of the Information Services Working Group for the past 20 years.
