It is never too early to book for a year ahead. We have found over the last couple of years that certain types of holiday and certain destinations do warrant booking as early as possible. Here are a few tips and hints.
GLACIER EXPRESS AND BERNINA EXPRESS These iconic, scenic, Swiss train journeys are in great demand and space can be booked within minutes of the booking window opening. If you want to incorporate one of these wonderful journeys, let us know as soon as possible.
NORWAY’ S BOUTIQUE HOTELS AND FJORD-SIDE LODGES Some of the most entrancing Norwegian lodges and boutique hotels, situated in scenically dramatic locations on the sides of fjords, in the mountains and on islands have only a few rooms and early booking is imperative for the months of June, July and August. Midsummer is celebrated in Scandinavia and lots of locals travel north too to experience the beauty of the Arctic Circle in summer and the land of the midnight sun.
VENICE SIMPLON-ORIENT- EXPRESS This historic train departs from and returns to Paris but with a limited number of departures to Venice and even fewer to other European destinations such as Prague and Vienna, you really must book well in advance. Prices are dynamic too, so the less demand there is the closer to departure you get, the higher the price.
ITALY’ S AMALFI COAST Please avoid disappointment( and high prices) by booking early for this dramatic and much demanded region of southern Italy. Prices can be high but early booking does give you the best prices and the biggest choice of rooms at the hotels. Long stays of seven nights or more in one place can be‘ sold-out’ by the end of March for the summer months.
FAMILY RESORTS IN PORTUGAL AND THE MEDITERRANEAN If you are a family with specific requirements for family rooms, interconnecting rooms or two-bedroomed suites, we cannot stress enough that you must book ideally by the end of January for the summer months.
EUROPEAN CULTURAL CITIES FOR BANK HOLIDAYS Demand for cities such as Venice, Rome, Florence, Seville and Granada is at a peak for major holiday weekends such as Easter, May 1st and Whitsun which also usually coincides with half-term breaks. If you know you want to travel on these dates, book now!
