UKTV goes multi-platform on Sky
ky and UKTV have
extended their long-term
partnership with a new
multi-year agreement that will
see UKTV’s network of pay TV
channels made available across
Sky’s full range of TV products
for the first time.
The new multi-platform
agreement further expands UKTV’s
footprint in the British broadcasting
market, which currently sees the
network reach over 42 million viewers
a month. In addition to the continued
availability of popular pay exclusive
channels Gold, Watch, Alibi, Dave HD, Good
Food, Eden and Home, UKTV content will be
available through catch-up, on demand, on the
go, and, where available, in High Definition.

EE claims 4G speed
record launch
UK mobile telco EE has
switched on its 4G mobile
network, claiming it as the
fastest in the world. The
network – running LTEAdvanced technology and
which is capable of reaching
300Mbps speeds – will initially
cover London’s Tech City, with
companies in the area being
selected to access it first.
This latest EE network
innovation follows the
company’s internal analysis of
consumer and
business trends,
which forecasts a
data-usage rise of
750% over the
next three years.
EE CEO Olaf
Swantee explained
that the network
used the
spectrum that it
acquired in the
Ofcom spectrum
auction earlier in 2013, and
was the first part of an
infrastructure that could meet
the future demands of an
increasingly data-hungry
nation, enabling it to stay onestep ahead of the demand.
