Addressing the multi-screen consumer There is no doubt that the greatest area of impact for IP networks will be in the direct to consumer space. The global IPTV market is estimated to reach 76m million subscribers in 2013 with revenues of $32 billion, growing to 105m subscribers and $45 billion in 2015. To strengthen our offering in consumer IP video solutions, Ericsson recently announced its intention to acquire the Mediaroom business from Microsoft. Mediaroom is the leading platform for video distribution deployed with the world’s largest IPTV operators. It enables over 40 IP TV services in over 11 million subscriber households.
