Racism: A Curse For The Nation
by SANEESH MEETHALE, X-B
Looking back from this 21st Century, we have achieved a lot of development in very aspects of life, Civilization, Educational System, Transportation System and so on. There were also many challenged against this development and it’s elating that we had overcome which still stays as a constriction in the way of development. One such problem we face today is Racism.
Racism is a belief of dividing characters, actions and abilities among different groups of people and especially the belief that races can be ranked as inherent superior or inferior to others or those members of different races should be treated differently. People are disintegrated under the basis of caste, color; occupation etc and they are considered superior or inferior to one another.
From the early times itself, there were segregation based on racism. For instance, in India during the monarchy rule, the society was divided as Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vayshas, Shudras and etc. The Kshatriyas and the Brahmins were considered as the superiors and the others were the one to suffer all the cruelty done by them.
Hitler’s Nazism in Germany is also another good example of racism. He considered the pure Aryan blooded people as the real inheritance of the country and decided to eradicate the Jewish and other minor societies from Germany by using deadly measures.
Still today, on our country itself, there exists untouchability. Though our great leaders had fought against it and though new rules have been introduced to abolish it. Untouchability still takes a place in hearts of the superiors.
Everyone is to be born in this world and everyone will die in this earth. So in this short duration of and death, is it better to love in a disintegrated society? Or a society, color or anything doesn’t matter; a society were everyone is equal?
It’s time for we people to think about this matter and decide over own future. As it is said, “United we stand and divided we fall”. If we have unity, we contribute to our self to a strong and in dependable nation and if w stay divided still, there is a possibility of history of independence being repeated again.
So think wisely and purify our hearts with love and unity and relinquish the very thought of segregation.
