-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------eTwinning – Teaching in a Different Way
by Manuela Baptista
As a French teacher, I started, in October 2012,
with Katerina Stafylidou, from Feron Gymnasio, in
Feres, Greece, a project within the Foreign French
Language (FLE) named “Je m’amuse, tu t’
amuses…. on apprend!”, in order to give to the
beginning students the opportunity of being with
other European students which are also beginning
the French language. The project, integrated in the
curriculum of this subject, developed during 2 years
with two other European schools, The Gymanasio
Soufliou, also situated in Feres, and a Turkish
private school in Bursa. For the next year, I am
preparing with Naciye Değirmenci, Nadia Bakatinaki
and Delphine Bourdon a new project based on the
book “Une histoire à quatre voix (Voices in the
Park)”, by Anthony Brown.
I believe that eTwinning allows me to teach in a
different way, widening the geographic and cultural
horizons of my pupils. At the same time, they will
use the foreign languages they learn, also use the
new technologies and get better the social
competences.
Besides that, working with European teachers in
projects like these ones offers us a wide possibility
of exchanging experiences, knowledge sharing and
cooperative work in order to create synergies which
reveal surprising and gratifying achievements.
I also like to participate in Learning Events and in
professional development workshops, which are a
stimulating support, reflective promoter of new
learnings and progress.
For this reason, I think eTwinning is, without any
doubt, a great and essential opportunity.

As a Librarian Teacher, I developed, during the last
year, with other teachers from m y school, the “Be
Creative” project, whose main objective was to
stimulate the students’ creativity from the very
beginning to the older ones (2nd cycle), having
worked with Bulgarian, Polish, Romanian and
Turkish partners. Next year I will develop a project
based on the creative drama and bibliotherapy, with
Croatian, Polish and Turkish partners.
