Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2013 Newsletter -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The students have started to have a different point of view to my English classes. Being out of routine they were very enthusiasthic and very eager to participate . I would like to finish with Nelson Mandela’s quotation: « Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. » I strongly believe in this. If you really want to do something, nothing can stand in your way, as in our case. Let Us Train with eTwinning! by Cinzia Masia eTwinning is becoming more and more popular all over the European countries because it offers different chances to get in touch with other states and cultures. It is an interesting way to be a part of a really big European school community that sustains team working, bridging both schools and pupils from different parts of Europe through a wider range of communicative kits. eTwinning is like a “virtual meeting place” where it is possible to know new colleagues so to exchange not only ideas and strategies but also useful tools to work effectively with students. In fact, it gives teachers and students alike several opportunities to learn and improve knowledge and skills while cooperating, as well as exploiting several communicative tools available on this platform. Figen Oğuzmert is a teacher of English at Dörtyol Ş.A.S. Vocational and Technical High School in Hatay, Turkey. She has been teaching English for fifteen years. She is an enthusiasthic teacher about new pedagogies and loves her job. She is also responsible from the devolopment and implementation of the EU projects in her school. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although the main aim of eTwinning is that of setting a common project between two different European countries at least, I believe that it can also present itself as a powerful instrument for inservice teacher training. I am a teacher trainer and tutor in in-service training courses for primary teachers of English, where I have been working since 1996. I have always noticed that most of them are afraid of starting teaching English and, particularly, not having any continuous schooling support. They need advice, resources, tips and tools which can be easily used and tailored to their students’ abilities and needs. 67
