It was busy, much busier than I expected but the venue
was perfect so there was never too little or too much room at
the workshops. Big name exhibitors were joined by smaller
companies and there certainly seemed to be representatives
from every corner of the industry, from contact lenses to
frames, equipment to finance. Everyone likes a deal and the
exhibitors were keen that the conference gave people the
opportunity to do business if they wanted to. I was eager to
look at equipment and there were several stands with top
quality exhibitors, great equipment and a friendly face to
answer my questions. There really did seem to be something
for everyone and I was delighted to see they even had a
Specsavers stand!
Apart from the CET, I mentioned I was interested in
equipment. What I didn’t expect was the powerful effect that
the combination of what I learned from the workshops, the
other practitioners and the stands had on my decision making.
I went in to the conference believing I was going to buy one
piece of equipment and came out with something completely
different. Without attending the conference, I would most
likely have made a very big mistake.
So, my new year resolution this year more than paid off!
I got my CET points, the right equipment, made some new
business contacts and I even made some great new friends.
New year is definitely a time for trying new things but it’s
also a time of year steeped in tradition. I think I will make
Eyecare one of mine from now on!
