Interactive CET
at your fingertips
Did you know the Eyecare website (cetpoints.com) now offers interactive
CET online? What’s more, if you do not have an account yet, sign up online
and receive your first piece of CET on us! Below is an overview of just some
of the interactive CET currently available online:
OCT Live –
Macular disease Assessing the
anterior chamber From block to finishing –
The journey of a spectacle lens
This piece of CET guides you through
the OCT examinations of four patients
including a normal patient and patients
with AMD, BRVO and DMO. They will
show you how to capture and how to
interpret the scans for each patient.
You’ll be given background history for
each case and see the scans captured
and interpreted live on screen. The
scans were captured live at the Eyecare
Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow
in January 2017. This course aims to keep your
knowledge and skills up to date
with useful techniques for assessing
the anterior chamber. From depth
assessment to gonioscopy to looking
for signs of ocular inflammation, the
modules cover all the bases to help you
feel confident in these techniques. Learn how your order for spectacle
lenses is turned into a complete pair
of glazed spectacles in 24 hours. This
course, filmed at one of the UK’s biggest
lens production facilities follows single
vision and mulitfocal lenses on their
journey from semi finished blanks to
glazed, coated lenses. We also hear how
new lens designs are created and tested
in the R&D department.
How to manage dry
eye in practice Low Vision –
the best job in optics, part 1 Low Vision –
the best job in optics, part 2
Dry eye is a very common problem
potentially affecting up to 30% of
our patients. This interactive lecture
demonstrates, with a live consultation,
how to actually carry out a dry eye
workup in practice from start to finish.
It highlights the best ways to take
a specific history as well as the key
clinical steps to take in order to achieve
an accurate diagnosis as well as the best
ways to communicate the results with
the patient. This presentation explains how a deep
understanding of the psychological
impact of acquired low vision helps the
clinician to maximise the success of
the assessment. Videoed case histories
underline the key messages throughout
the presentation and highlight the value
of providing a low vision service. The
film also includes a demonstration of
some of the common low vision aids
as well as some practical aids that can
often be overlooked. Is Low Vision the best job in optics?
Gil Smith draws on his extensive
experience in this field to argue that it
is a very rewarding aspect of optometric
practice and helps the ECP to learn
how to approach low vision in a very
practical way using demonstrations,
patient testimonials and a huge dose of
passion.
