ince the advent of social
S
media, the internet has
revolutionized the way we
communicate and the
meaning of "self-identity." 6
years ago, I became an active
social media user, especially
on Instagram. "Why don't I
look like her?" I doubted my
self-perception and relayed
my self-esteem on the likes
on a picture. Yet, many of us
are deluded by the perfect people and their perfect lives, and in turn
begin to feel worse about ourselves as we pine over not being perfect
enough. Despite that, we often forget that social media has become a
place for people to escape reality and create their own perfect world..
We live our life in pictures and let social media define us with its
unattainable beauty standards. Therefore, we need a change, we have
to teach women how to love themselves and once that happens, our
values as a society will shift.
Esteemag hopes to inspire you with adorning stories from our
models about their journey to understanding self-value and beauty.
