Van Dyk believes that a garden can add good value to a property,
really complementing the design and atmosphere of a home inside
and out. Being situated in the Garden Route means that Pinnacle
Point must adhere to strict regulations set out by the Department of
Environmental Affairs, as the Fynbos Biome is home to approximately
9,000 species of plants, two-thirds of which are endemic to the
region. All landscapers working on the estate must follow the
guidelines outlined by the Operational Environmental Management
Programme, which also lists all the species of limestone fynbos,
proteoid fynbos (at least five of which are Red Data species) and
coastal thicket that occur there naturally. It is obvious why a nature
lover like van Dyk enjoys what she does. ‘To have the opportunity
to be outdoors every day, working with plants and living out my
passion for indigenous fynbos, is really fulfilling and I love watching
a new garden come to life!’
