ESTATES ABROAD

Visiting or investing in an
international estate allows those
of us already living on an estate
the opportunity to evade our
everyday routine and environment,
and experience a lifestyle that
differs from what we are commonly
accustomed to. Neighbouring
countries, like Namibia, for
example, offer a host of unique
residential estates that are a
stone’s throw from home, the
Omeya Golf and Residential Oasis
being one.
The word omeya means ‘water’ in the local
dialect of Oshiwambo and is a representation of
the vast amount of underground water found
beneath the estate’s land. Nestled at the foot of
rugged mountains and encircled by a sanctuary
of greenery amongst the sand-coloured
landscape, the Omeya Golf and Residential Oasis
encompasses everything an oasis should be
and so much more. Described as the emerald
jewel of Namibia, location is key to the success
of this estate, for it is conveniently located a
mere 30 minutes from the capital, Windhoek,
and only two hours away by plane from South
Africa, yet far enough to offer a true escape to a
spectacularly intriguing place.
Out of the arid Acacia Savannah, this incredible
estate offers something unique for keen golfers.
The golf course is one of the estate’s major
attractions and a first in Namibia. Designed by
golfing star Peter Matkovich, it has seamlessly
incorporated the dry riverbed and foliage into
its design, while providing experienced and
new golfers with a truly African and outdoors
experience. The 18-hole signature course
at Omeya offers a wonderfully interesting
feeling of isolation due to its location and finite
surroundings, while the clubhouse seats up to 60
people in its welcoming and cool environment,
designed with the hot climate in mind.
