Something Kathy loves about dōTERRA is that it’s

feels best. “My passion, knowledge, and positivity
shine through when I share essential oils,” she says.

However, she’s learned to consider her audience,
situation, and purpose. “I’m a microbiologist. I geek
out about biochemistry and cellular biology. I love to
educate, but my passion for and knowledge of essential
oil science were—honestly—barriers to growing a
business. I gained customers quickly, but when people
came to a, say, basics class, I provided a depth of
knowledge people didn’t need. I wasn’t personalizing
my approach and I was missing out on sales.”
