PROVIDE A BRIEF HISTORY OF
PLANTOYS USA.
My uncle Vitool, who was originally an
architect and is the founder of PlanToys,
decided back in 1981, that he wanted to
do something good [by creating] toys
for kids. Not only to create toys, but to
create them in respect for the environment and the future. He was inspired by
the rubber trees that grew around his
village which gave him the idea to use
those trees to create the toys. PlanToys is
the first company ever to use reclaimed
rubberwood to create toys. Since 1981,
(going on to our fourth decade) my
uncle’s vision of creating toys and being
environmentally-conscious about it still
resonates throughout our business. In
fact, it is one of the main objectives and
goals to always improve our sustainability as a company.
WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS
PHILOSOPHY?
Our toy business is all about creating
fun, respecting the environment and
bringing educational value to the toys we
love to create. Profits are not the driving
motivation for us but rather creating a
sustainable world through play with our
toys for kids and their future. We want to
make sure that every child who touches
and plays with our toys know that they
are special.
HOW IS YOUR COMPANY IMPACTING
THE COMMUNITY?
We are constantly coming up with new
ways to become more sustainable as
a company. We recently invested in a
new biomass gasification power plant to
power our factory. This process uses the
unusable parts of the tree, including the
roots and leaves, to produce electricity
for our whole factory and even for the
villages around the factory as well. With
this process we actually take in more
carbon than we emit into the atmosphere
which in turn, benefits everyone.

Toys start with kids and kids need to
learn how to appreciate nature and the
environment at a very young age. There
is no reason why young kids today can’t
do this. This is why we strive to make
this happen and pass on this knowledge
through our toys. Just imagine a generation of kids who can appreciate nature
and earth around them, what the world
can be after that. Our toys have to send
this message because it will definitely
affect their future.

YOUR SUSTAINABLE PLAY LINE.
Our sustainable play line includes
all of our toys. Each and every toy is
created and manufactured with our
sustainable philosophy in mind. The
toys are designed for multi-functional
purposes and geared towards the early
developmental stages of the child. The
production of the toys from raw material
to final product is also a sustainable process. We use a chemical-free kiln-drying
process to strengthen the wood, organic
color pigments and water based dyes
