who we are
I'm Lisa. I live in London, and have been writing for over 20 years, starting as the entertainment editor on my university newspaper. Recently I've written for such internet mags as Popwrapped and Maximum Pop. In addition to Essentially Pop, I currently write for Fandoms Assemble Magazine and JackCruteDotCom.
When I was growing up I always wanted to be either an artist or a writer. I'm lucky to say that I've managed to achieve both these dreams.
I've always loved music, with my special interests being Bowie, classic rock, 80s Brit-pop Eurovision and modern pop. I have a special fondness for Jedward, and have been a fan since 2011. My pet peeve is knowing there's good music out there that doesn't get heard on the radio, and this is why I'm part of Essentially Pop. This year I've seen a lot of live music which really should have their place on the radio, but for whatever reason, aren't being heard.
In my non-writing life I teach crochet, with four classes across South-East London starting this year. Check out my crochet blog here for details.
