Chez Edgar From foodie blogger to restaurant owner to Gold Medal Plates winner , chef Marysol Foucault has quickly risen in prominence among the region ’ s culinary luminaries . Her bistro , Chez Edgar , is just off the beaten path , across the river in Gatineau . To say the eatery is small is an understatement . It has only 11 seats ! However , Edgar will be expanding in 2018 . Until then , the wait to get one of those seats adds to the allure of Edgar . The menu can best be described as gourmet comfort food made from locally sourced ingredients . Foucault ’ s pastries are renowned — the Edgar bars ( made with chocolate , peanut butter , and oats ) are much sought after . For brunch , expect her to dress up favourites in unexpected ways . 60 , rue Bégin , Gatineau , 819-205-1110 , chezedgar . ca

Simple but complex , it defines Kim ’ s intriguing vegetable-focused menu , which she artfully presents at her restaurant Café My House . The darkened , minimalist interior creates an intimate atmosphere . Her vegan wizardry cleverly recreates “ eggs ,” “ sausages ,” and “ burgers ,” and her “ charcuterie ” board , containing vegan doppelgangers of typical fare , is a must-try . By taking his fare to the next level , Thottungal won gold in the Ottawa competition and silver at the nationals .
