Now available in the UK, HyperSound Clear 500P focuses a targeted beam of sound to a specific listener without impacting the volume of the TV or AV system for other viewers, an approach the company claims as a world first. With one in six people in the UK suffering from some kind of hearing loss, TV and AV volume is a common problem, causing issues for others in the home or neighbours. HyperSound’s describes its solution as similar to a beam of light from a torch, directing a beam of audio to target listeners and promoting the speech over any background noise that might be present. HyperSound Clear works in parallel with the audio from the television or home theatre system, so a person sitting in the HyperSound beam can independently control the device’s volume and experience immersive 3D audio, while everyone else in the room hears audio from the television speakers or home theatre system at a normal volume level. “Spending time together at home watching sports events, favourite TV shows or having movie nights in is part of our culture. Yet many suffering from hearing loss are missing out as they can’t hear what is being said and the volume levels they need don’t suit the rest of the family. We’ve now fixed this,” explains Chris Auty, HyperSound managing director, EMEA & APAC. “HyperSound Clear is one of the most innovative audio products to come along in decades, so we’re very excited that it’s now available in the UK.” Connected Distribution announced that both Russound and Cabasse have released Control4 drivers for their products, making integration with the popular control platform simple and providing additional revenue opportunities. With the release of the new drivers, the Russound range of controller amplifiers, MCA-66, MCA-88 and the streamer equipped MCA-88X, are now controllable by one of the most popular personalised automation and control solutions. This enhancement for the Russound range enables the products to be more easily integrated into whole house solutions where Control4 is used. The distributor says that for Control4 installers, it opens up the opportunity to specify the Russound multi-room audio products in their systems and bring their clients the quality audio solution that Russound is known for. In addition to the MCA range of flagship products, the new XZone4 four zone, four streamer multi-room amplifier can also be controlled, as can the legacy products the X5 and DMS3.1 streamers, permitting backwards compatibility with existing installs. The Cabasse Stream range presents a solution for whole house audio streaming including the new StreamBASE and StreamBAR soundbase and soundbar, providing instant access to all the music stored on the customer’s network, Internet radio stations and streaming from Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal. The new Control4 driver provides two-way control of Cabasse Stream players, via TCP/IP. Discrete preset selection lets the user choose new music from the Control4 interface, as well as control volume level, repeat and shuffle status. Comprehensive metadata feedback to the Control4 interface is also included, whilst offering instant synchronisation with other applications. An automatic discovery mechanism makes installation straight forward.
