outputs allow transmission via a single CAT5e / 6 / 7 cable up to 100m , whilst the independent HDMI outputs support cable lengths of up to 10m . This matrix supports high resolution digital audio formats such as LPCM 7.1CH , Dolby TrueHD , Dolby Digital Plus , Dolby Atmos and DTS- HD Master Audio as well as 3D video content .
The product however also incorporates an independent audio matrix with 14 audio outputs and 10 audio inputs . These outputs and inputs can also be used for de-embedding HDMI audio to the audio outputs and embedding audio to the HDBaseT and HDMI outputs . The audio CAT connections , along with compatible bidirectional audio modules ( PU-305BD-RX & PU-305BDA- RX ) allow integration with remote sources and remote audio zones . In addition , volume , mute , treble , bass and audio lip-sink correction control are available on all direct audio outputs . Optical Audio Return ( OAR ) allows the optical input on the receiver to be routed back to the audio matrix .
LAN connectivity provides a 100BaseT network for smart TVs or games consoles in every zone . The matrix has a built-in pattern generator which can be used to verify the video signal on any of its 10 output ports . The Power over HDBaseT ( PoH ) function provides power to compatible receivers , control is via manual selection buttons , IR , RS232 , Telnet or Web GUI and CYP has created drivers for all the major control systems .

David Webster , chief technology officer , says : “ Atlona ’ s latest UHD-PRO3 series of matrix switches are perfect for the distribution of 4K / UHD HDMI signals around the home using HDBaseT signalling over Cat6A cable . Models are available in 4x4 , 6x6 , 8x8 and 16x16 sizes . Unusually all models are also equipped with one to four HDMI outputs that can be set to act as mirrored outputs ( designed for routing HDMI-based audio to an AVR ) or as additional matrix outputs .
“ For example , the 16x16 model can act as a 16x20 matrix if required . The matrix is control system-friendly and integrates with any TCP / IP , RS232 , or IR control signals as well as operated via the supplied IR remote , front panel control , or GUI-based integrated web server .”
The matrix HDBaseT outputs are either extended distance , 100 meter ( 4K / UHD ) or long distance , 70 meter ( HD , 40 meter 4K / UHD ), and power Atlona UHD-EX Series HDBaseT receivers with Power over Ethernet and bi-directional extension of both RS232 and IR Control . Ethernet pass-through is not available .
David adds : “ The switch bandwidth of 10.2Gbps supports 4K / UHD @ 60 Hz , 4:2:0 , 8-bit video signals ; offers 3D pass-through and meets HDCP 2.2 copy protection standards . Professional audio capabilities include HDMI stereo audio de-embedding with volume , mute and five-band EQ control via analogue outputs on captive screw connectors . The UHD-PRO3 matrix switches also supports the Atlona Management System
( AMS ), a network software platform that integrates product configuration , management and updating . Specially designed for IP-controllable Atlona Products , the Atlona Management System has been introduced to reduce installation time and enable remote monitoring and support .
For ordering convenience RGB have Atlona kits with a single part number that contain a UHD-Pro3 series HDMI matrix switch complete with HDBaseT receivers .
However , if you want to switch 4K / UHD sources that have HDR content , you need cables and a matrix that supports 18Gbps bandwidth , such as the PureLink UX- 8800 and UX-4400 HDMI-to-HDMI matrix switches ( 8x8 and 4x4 respectively ) available from Savant Europe .
David explains : “ To maintain the 18Gbps bandwidth throughout the system , we don ’ t recommend using these matrix switches with regular HDBaseT extenders . Instead use copper or fibre optic HDMI cables rated for 18Gbps speeds , or consider the new Atlona Centum HDR Extender ( AT-CENT-301-CEA ). This has the capability to send 4K / UHD @ 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and HDR formats , up to 100 meters over a single Cat6A cable . This is made possible by using visually lossless VESA Display Stream Compression ( DSC ).
