The new AE109 slim-line floor-standing speaker heads up the new Series, the first range launched under the company’s newly re-taken British ownership and during its 30th Anniversary year. Mat Spandl, Director at the company says: “We’ve introduced our new WDT waveguide technology, an evolution of the DXT lens developed for the Reference Series and now found in our recently launched AE1 Active. This reshapes the high frequency sound wave to give better room integration, improved imaging and a wider listening zone.” At the rear, slot ports are located to reduce midrange colouration and improve bass response. The external design has also been enhanced for a more elegant slim-line appearance with a smaller footprint for room integration. New cabinet finish options include Walnut Vinyl veneer and Satin Black with full length magnetic grilles. Breaking the range down, the AE100 Compact Loudspeaker is the The bookshelf/stand-mount option designed to achieve high sound pressure levels from a small enclosure, whilst the AE109 is designed to offer effortless room filling performance from a slimline floorstanding loudspeaker. Two 110mm drivers utilising an ultra-high force motor system are used in partnership with a 28mm Wide Dispersion Technology soft dome tweeter. A bespoke design 2.5 way crossover system marries the drivers by featuring a unique topology allowing high- quality integration and power handling. AWE offers its own range of easy to install, in-ceiling speakers designed to offer quality audio performance at affordable prices. Targeted at the residential sector, the compact, low profile speaker range has five in the family including the KISP-E130-LP. This speaker boasts a two-way array design which includes a 130mm Polypropylene driver and 19mm tweeter. This centralised pivoting silk dome tweeter can be angled 30° in any direction from the centre thanks to its ball and socket design, allowing installers to direct sound exactly where it is needed – especially in a surround sound setup. The ultra-low profile circular grille is in place to deliver a neat finish and attaches magnetically. AWE recommends calling on this model when installers are seeking a reliable and quality build at affordable prices. Amina has been impressing of late with the sound quality delivered by its latest release, the Edge7 which has put the company at a new level of audio delivery as well as enhancing the ease of use as the speaker no longer needs to be plastered over. The speaker can be used in traditional plaster board construction, but can also be employed when dry-wall building techniques are used. Once installed the speaker can be painted or papered over in the normal way. Amina also points out that buildings regulations are something that all installers need to take into consideration. There are instances where the finished built environment complete with all lighting, AV and control equipment needs to provide a one hour fire containment. Amina then is keen for installers to learn that the Edge7 invisible loudspeaker uses a new composite material at the heart of its active soundboard, which not only makes it stiff, light and damped, good for sound production, it also means the product is certified to BS476 Part 21 for use in 60 minute fire rated ceilings. The Edge Series itself is made up of the Edge7 and Edge5. Edge7 is capable of handling 75W of continuous power, a peak power handling of 150W which combined with [email protected]/1m efficiency, delivers high quality audio. The Edge7 can also go as low as 45Hz. The Edge5 is a simpler product suitable for less complex systems and can handle 50W continuous power, 100W peak.
