Essential Install | Security DID YOU KNOW: Near the end of WWII, America used CCTV to monitor the test launches of its Atomic programme Under Surveillance Simon King looks at some of the latest developments in the security fi eld. The D-Link DCS- 4703E provides real-time video compression in H.264 and MJPEG formats LILIN’s LD222 fi xed dome features built-in Sense up+ technology to deliver super video in low- light conditions 54 | June 2017 Aldous Systems has partnered with Southern and Northern Monitoring to provide third party CCTV monitoring of Visualint Analytical cameras. With the monitoring service, dealers can offer their customers visual verifi cation of an activation from a camera by the monitoring company. If there is a real threat, the monitoring company can notify the end user and/or invoke private security to attend site. Jason Aldous, MD of Aldous Systems (Europe), says: “This is an enhancement to our existing capabilities of end user notifi cation via email or via C4, Crestron, Savant, Leviton Control systems. Higher net worth individuals may need higher security requirements and this addition adds real value and provides reoccurring revenue opportunities for the dealer. “The integration from monitoring station to Visualint is direct to the camera and does not require the NVR so Visualint cameras can be added to an existing system and greatly enhance the capability without having to discard existing end user investment.” Aldous Systems provides a virtual technician service where the cameras can be configured for the dealer remotely. The launch of new CCTV and access control products is still dominated with equipment that uses the IP protocol to distribute captured video and audio. Pro-Vision Distribution says that recent IP products released in the UK include LILIN’s new fi xed lens micro dome. Part of the L Series, LILIN has recently launched the LD222 fi xed dome featuring built-in Sense up+ technology to deliver super video in low-light conditions. Other features include privacy mask and White balance. Either PoE or 12vDC in operation, there are two versions available 2.8 (F1.8) or 4mm (F1.6) fi xed lenses. Ideal for the custom install sector, the domes integrate with AMX, Crestron, Control4, Elan, RTI, Savant Systems and URC technologies. The D-Link DCS-4703E Vigilance full HD Outdoor PoE Mini Bullet Camera features a three-megapixel progressive scan CMOS sensor to deliver video under a range of lighting conditions. The company says its rugged design makes this camera ideal for reliable deployment in surveillance applications without the need for additional accessories. The built-in IR LED illuminators automatically turn on depending on lighting conditions, allowing the camera to capture video even in low-light or no-light conditions. Combined with the IR-Cut fi lter, the DCS-4703E can also provide monochrome video in low-light conditions. Embedded with a powerful SoC (System-on-Chip), the camera provides real-time video compression in H.264 and MJPEG formats. These elements combine, Pro-Vision says, to make the IP66 rated DCS-4703E an ideal solution for 24-hour surveillance. Also from Pro-Vision stable is PAC, a specialist in access- control solutions for over 35 years, which has launched the PAC8, a compact, single door controller, managed through an App with a secure Cloud-based back-end.
