to an full evening
of entertainment
in 2018.
Newley acquired events experience within the company
means the Smart Building Awards are coming back in
a big way for 2018. Whilst the awards themselves have
been successful in finding and rewarding the very best
in the business, via the tried and tested approach of
deciding the awards with a panel of expert judges, the
awards evening itself has taken a relaxed approach in
recent years. This is all set to change in 2018 as not only
will the most above board, representative and meaningful
trade awards in the business be up for grabs again, they
will be presented during an evening of fun, fine food and
top class entertainment.
Fresh from putting on a dazzling evening at the ED&I
networking dinner (ATMs trade show for the electrical
sector) the event team will swing into full action planning
a similar night for the Smart Building Awards.
The ED&I networking dinner featured music from Old
Dirty Brasstards, a brass band with a difference, mixing
brass instruments with cutting edge tunes, and one of the
UK’s top comedians and free style rappers, Chris Turner.
The team will be working on a similar format for
the Smart Building Award ceremony, so expect a slick
evening of awards, entertainment, not to mention a three
course meal, all served in the Solario Suite at Sandown
Race Course, the home of EI Live!
The event will take place on the evening of May 9, the first
day of the EI Live! show, which itself is taking place May 9-10.

Criteria: Awarded to the screen shown to have provided the
most innovation and commercial opportunities to installers.
Projector of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the project deemed to have pushed the
boundaries of performance whilst offering ease of installation.
Bracket/Rack or Mounting Product of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the product deemed to have
provided the most creative and user friendly design to
not just support a product, but enhance the experience.
Loudspeaker of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the speaker which has demonstrated
the best performance qualities, whilst offering a
compelling and easy to install proposition for installer
and customer alike.
Cable Solution of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the cable product judged to have
improved the quality and reach of signal delivery to the
highest degree.
Matrix/Signal Distribution Product of The Year
Criteria: The product judged to have delivered the most
user/installer friendly route to solving the issue of multiple
signal delivery, will win out here.
Multi-Room/Zone Music Solution of The Year
Criteria: Providing an easy to install, high performance
and expandable system will be key in this category.
Dedicated Touch-Screen of The Year
Criteria: The category will go to the product deemed
to have provide the most exciting and unique user
experiences, whilst delivering an easy to integrate system
for the installer.
TV/Display of The Year (conventional)
Criteria: Awarded to the best conventional TV product
providing opportunities to the smart building/custom
install channel.
Integrated TV/Display of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the best-integrated product, defined
as a set, which integrates fully into the fabric of the home
using bespoke frames, mirrors or similar.

Best Cinema Project
Criteria: Awarded to the cinema which shows the most
design flair and high performance whilst over coming
tricky project or technical challenges.
Best Commercial Integration Project
Criteria: Awarded to the product which delivers the
highest customer satisfaction and technical innovation.
Best Whole House Project
Criteria: Awarded to the project which delivers on all
levels, offering the customer a truly integrated solution
which is not an add-on, but genuinely is part of the
home’s utilities.

Distributor of The Year
Criteria: Award to the distributor judged to have offered
the best support to installers.
Manufacturer of The Year
Criteria: Awarded to the company judged to have
delivered the best in line-up additions and support to

Criteria: Best Smart Building training course is awarded
to the course deemed to have provided the most skills

What the Judges are looking for: Nominated by their
own company or a third party, this sales person will not
only have posted impressive numbers in the last year, but
demonstrated a high level of ability in establishing the
client’s needs and delivering above expectation.
