OUTDOOR COOKING
6. SMOKY GARLIC BUTTER STEAK & FIRE-CHARRED VEG
By Helios Fire Smokeless Fire Pit @ heliosfire _ thesmokelessfirepit
This recipe is designed for the Helios Fire Smokeless Fire Pit, using the Cast Iron Ember Skillet as the primary cooking surface. It highlights clean heat control, depth of flavour, and the theatre of livefire cooking, without smoke.
Serves: 2 – 3
INGREDIENTS
• 2 thick-cut ribeye or sirloin steaks( room temperature)
• coarse sea salt
• freshly cracked black pepper
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 3 cloves garlic, lightly crushed
• 1 sprig rosemary or thyme
• 1 red pepper, sliced
• 1 courgette, thick slices
• 1 red onion, wedges
• olive oil
• salt & pepper
For the equipment:
• Helios Fire Smokeless Fire Pit
• Cast Iron Ember Skillet
• tongs
• heat-resistant gloves
METHOD
1. Light the Helios Fire Pit and allow it to develop a strong, even flame. Once the fire settles to a steady heat, place the Ember Skillet directly over the heat source. Allow the skillet to preheat for 5 – 7 minutes until very hot.
2. Generously season the steaks with salt and pepper. Add a small drizzle of oil to the hot skillet. Place the steaks in the hot skillet; listen for a strong sizzle. Sear for 2 – 3 minutes per side until a deep golden crust forms.
3. Lower the skillet slightly if needed for gentler heat. Add the butter, garlic, and herbs. Tilt the skillet and spoon the foaming butter over the steaks for 1 – 2 minutes. 4. Push the steaks to one side of the skillet or remove them to rest. Add the vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cook until charred and tender, turning occasionally.
5. Rest the steaks for 5 minutes. Slice against the grain. Serve over the fire-charred vegetables, with extra garlic butter drizzled on top.
Pro Tips for Helios Fire Cooking: Smokeless advantage: Clean heat means you taste the food, not the smoke. Heat zones: Raise or lower the skillet to adjust the heat. Cast-iron retention: The Ember Skillet retains heat, making it ideal for restaurant-quality searing outdoors.
Serving Suggestion: Pair with crusty bread, Pesto Princess Chimichurri, or a simple green salad. Perfect for relaxed evenings when cooking becomes part of the experience.
