Prints that David Loch sold for $200 early in his career are now fetching north of $30,000. “It’s amazing because some of these prints have never been to market,” says Ian Loch. Unlike the proven auction records of sale for historical pieces, selling the works of contemporary, living artists can be more challenging, according to Yves Trépanier of TrépanierBaer Gallery. “Someone puts [a Ron Moppett painting] out. No auction record. No writing. It’s brand new. It comes into the world. It challenges everything around it.
