Inglewood
Celebrated as our city’s original main street, Atlantic Avenue unfolds at the heart of historic Inglewood.
The neighbourhood proper is Calgary’s oldest, established in 1875, making it the obvious choice for
visitors looking to take a trip back in time. Steeped in sentimentality, the central strip, now known as
9th Avenue, preserves the glories of decades gone by with a massive record store, drive-in burger joint, a
candy shop more than a century old and a gentlemen’s shaving boutique all within steps of each other
(not to mention a small army of antique shops). Nicknamed Brewery Flats back in the day, the area
also lives up to its reputation as a nightlife hub as part of Music Mile, with iconic live music bars the
Ironwood Stage and Grill and the Blues Can—must-see stages if you’re tired of top 40 hits and looking to
browse some homegrown bluegrass or folk. Hoping to dine with some ghostly company? Historic haunts
the Deane House, Hose and Hound and Rouge have you covered.
