With over 648 Members participating so far in 2025, and a projected 1,328 attendees by year’ s end, the series continues to grow in popularity.
In 2025, members explored global cuisines and seasonal specialties, from crafting fresh ricotta and lemon gelato during A Night in Bologna to mastering smoked brisket and bourbon pairings in Smoke & Barrels. They’ ve rolled summer Thai dishes, sipped Caipirinhas in Taste of Brazil, and built vibrant taco spreads in South of the Border.

“ Whether as a couple or with friends, these classes have always provided a fun and memorable evening,” said Shelley Johnson of Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch.“ We’ ve expanded our culinary skills while connecting with fellow residents who share a love for good food and great company.”

Each event is more than a cooking class— it’ s a shared experience, and upcoming sessions promise even more variety. As Esplanade continues to root its programming in holistic wellness, Patrick has hinted that one of the series’ themes for 2026 may be inspired by the world’ s longest-living communities( known as Blue Zones) and will explore the flavorful, plant-forward dishes that define these zones throughout the world.

Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch Members gathered for a night filled with rich Italian flavors, and exceptional wine during our Cooking & Cocktail series: A Night in Bologna.
Cooking & Cocktails is a signature Esplanade experience hosted quarterly, designed to elevate each participant’ s culinary skills through interactive demonstrations. Members enjoy a tasting of classic dishes paired with handcrafted cocktails or curated wine selections, creating a dynamic and immersive culinary experience.
Led by Patrick Scully, our National Director of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, the evening showcased a taste of Bologna with featured dishes including rich and savory Bolognese sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and refreshing lemon gelato. Patrick shared insights into the history behind the cuisine of Bologna, offering Members a deeper appreciation for every bite.
