Business operators that achieve Mana Tiaki Eco-Certification are rewarded with
the recognition that this type of green accreditation can bring. It is a framework for
best practice, celebrating and recognising those going above and beyond, as well
as encouraging others to take on more sustainable practices. Businesses will have
the use of the Mana Tiaki logo for promotional purposes, and can enjoy marketing
opportunities exclusive to Mana Tiaki Eco-Certified businesses including being
featured by Cook Islands Tourism. Ongoing training opportunities will also be
provided to tourist operators to help better 'green' their businesses.
Mana Tiaki Eco-Certification is a unique Cook Island certification system that has
been developed to be Cook Island specific. This suits the unique challenges and
opportunities of our location and is suited to the style of local businesses. It has been
developed to be consistent with the international eco accreditation guidelines set out
in the Mohonk Agreement (2000).
The Mana Tiaki Eco-Certification programme is intended to run parallel to the
existing tourism accreditation standard. This will add value to the overall quality
assurance for the industry.
Be sure to look out for the Mana Tiaki logo with the big green tick and please support
those local businesses that have taken the extra step to support sustainable tourism.
Together we can help keep the Cook Islands a destination you will always look
forward to visiting again in future.
