Gearbox Problems.
Garry has been boating now for 12 years on
Bright Phoebe.
In November, we went down to Beeston lock for a couple of days but ended up staying a week because the weather was bad and the Trent was up.
After the week and the Trent was OK he decided to go back to Derby Motor Boat Club. The boat was fine till we reached Cranfleet Lock and got through OK.
I noticed the boat would not stop as we reached the river Trent to moor up at the pubs for the night. It would not slow down. Managed to stop and moor up.
I phoned the R. C. R. as I am a member; they said they would come out to get me back to my moorings but I told them they could come out in the morning.
Next day R. C. R. towed us back to our moorings, they told me it was the gearbox, they took it away. Week later brought it back, they told me the reverse had gone and the forward gear was slipping. He told me it had been like it for years. That’ s why my boat was so slow and other boats were going past me. So now I’ ve bought Yvonne a pair of skis for the back of the boat to go down the Trent because we go that fast now ha ha.
