www.ersa-stringers.com SYMPOSIUM The 2019 Symposium just beat our record of 70 last year by 2 people. Cambridge is a great city to visit with many things to see. Many of our members came a day or two early and had a chance to visit some of the great sites. The Symposium kicked off on Friday night with our Welcome Cocktails. We had a few more badminton and squash stringers attending this year being in a country further north where more indoor sports are played. We had a total of 72 people attending from 16 diff erent countries and had many great presentations on tennis, badminton, squash, tuning, racquet painting, string developement and much more. Thanks to John Bushell from Sports Marketing Surveys for taking time out of his busy schedule to make a special presentation on tennis sales and trends in Europe. We cannot thank the sponsors enough for all the samples for our Goody Bags and great prizes for our raffl e. Yonex, Wilson, Head, Babolat, GAMMA and Dunlop also supplied machines for the meeting as well as many autographed rackets from Kevin Anderson(below won by Petros Biris), Andre Agassi, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Gilles Simon. Luxilon also supplied a large number of strings for samples and prizes. We also had thousands of euros in bags, rackets, strings and grips for prizes. Everyone won at least one prize and received a bag of samples worth their entrance fee. Thanks to all the String Supplier members, MSV, Kirschbaum, String Kong and StringLab who donated strings for the Goody Bags. We are already planning our 2019 Asia Symposium in Shanghai and working on a new venue and dates for 2020. We will be changing the Symposium to the end of September to accomodate all the stringers who are too busy in Spring with their club matches. We are looking at Spain, Greece or Croatia for the next venue. 11 ERSA PRO STRINGER // ISSUE 3-2019
