THE CAUSE OF THUNDER
Monday 6 March, 7.30pm
PROFESSIONAL THEATRE
A funny thing happened on the way to the pub… Bob
Cunningham thought he saw a man ascend into the sky.
It’s two years after the referendum, and Bob Cunningham has
stuff on his mind: whether or not to take early retirement;
politics, of course, and what to do about the No vote, Brexit,
Corbyn… and that weird thing about rising into the heavens.
To make matters worse he discovers that Ethel, his ex-, who
he hasn’t seen in 20 years, will be back in town later tonight.
It puts him in storytelling mood - Bob’s one of life’s raconteurs
- all the while trying to decide what to do about Ethel, and
whether his life’s work done. Is he finished? Can he come to
terms with his, and his country’s, past, and future?
Performed by David Hayman, written by Chris Dolan,
directed by David Hayman Jr., produced by Fair Pley.

HORSE: CAREFUL
Thursday 16 March, 7.30pm
“There are times in life when you need to be
careful: growing up gay in Lanark in the 70’s, when
the reward is half a pack of fruit pastilles, when
the lady on the train tells you about the doctor
you should meet. These would be some of those
times, but you’ll always be saved if you use your
voice”. Horse McDonald takes us on a journey
from wearing two-tone velvet loons to being
one of Scotland’s most celebrated singers, and
through those times when she had to be... Careful.
Written by Lynn Ferguson and Directed by Maggie
Kinloch, ‘Careful’ is Horse McDonald’s spellbinding
debut play. Join Horse afterwards for a live audience
Q&A with director Maggie Kinloch, as well as hit songs
from the last two decades of her illustrious career.”
