When there is gross erosion, invasion of inferior alveolar canal or extensive
paramandibular soft tissue, a segmental mandibulectomy is performed where
sections of the mandible are removed. Irradiated and edentulous mandibles, which
do not have adequate height/strength, a segmental mandibulectomy would be
performed rather than a marginal mandibulectomy. Care must be taken not to make a
