Cards on the Table
Spa created even more questions than it did answers in terms of predicting an accurate form guide heading into Le Mans.
Porsche have definitely thrown all their eggs into one basket in regards to putting on a good show at the blue riband WEC event in June. Whilst a low-downforce setting put them on the back foot at Silverstone, the configuration at Spa nearly gave the Weissach boys a much deserved win had it not been for some troublesome driveshaft issues getiing in the way.
In reality, Audi's retirements at SIlverstone flattered Porsche's results, but their ability to run longer will give them an advantage - so long as they can fix that darn'd energy recovery issue.
Audi can be forgiven for finding their feet last weekend, but finding some speed - practically out of thin air - during the dying stages of the Spa 6 Hr left plenty of commentators scratching their heads.
Hats off to Toyota though. They've been plenty of hard miles put on the clock in getting to this moment and they deserve evry success. When we caught up with Sebastien Buemi in March his beaming grin belied his message of hosing down expectation. That cat is definitely out of the bag.
