Formula E heads into it's final round in a months time with a mere one point separating it's title protagonists while Le Mans 2016 represents one of the most open form guides we've ever scene at sports car racing's blue riband event.
Compare that to Formula One, where the only man capable of mounting a serious title challenge has nearly double the amount of points amassed against him by his team mate. Yes, there's still a long way to go, but on this tragectory the tv viewing prospects look a little grim.
What can we read into this? Well if anything, maybe it's time to admit that open regulations never hurt close competition. The cleverest minds always find a way to end up at the same point despite different navigation techniques.
Pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses have always been what made motor sport great. The tools might be a little more andvanced but the basic principals are the same. Once the entire motor sport community start singing from the same hymn book, we could be set for another golden era.
