Missed it by that much much
It's incredible that in an industry where margins are now measured by thousandths of a second that defeat can be snatched from the jaws of victory by something as incosequential as a packet of sugar.
Of course I speak metaphorically, given it's about the weight of natural sweetener that scuppered Lucas Di Grassi's chance of victory in Mexico. This is the second time ABT Sportsline have fallen foul of the stewards (having also been disqualified in Germany last year due to illegal modifications to wheel fairings) and will be counting the cost big time if it's the difference between winning the championship and regrouping for another year
Also in this issue, I had the pleasure of speaking with WEC's new kid on the block Graeme Lowdon and DS Virgin's Alex Tai. The connection between these two men occurred in hindsight after arranging the interviews; both men of course heading Formula One projects just as Formula One pulled the rug from the proposed 2010 cost cap. As Lowdon and Tai are enjoying healthy competition in series experiencing rude health, the irony of F1's current predicament is not lost on two great individuals who have endured and prospered in this most fickle of sports.
