So where do we go from here?
So the mad scramble has begun in the wake of Ausi's departure from the WEC, but just who will be filing the void or will we be headed for - at Toyota's request - third car entries?
BMW have expressed in no uncertain terms their LMP1 involvement would have to include a Hydrogen element, while restrictions in LMP2 have sent many teams rushing to IMSA (including Mazda) to show off their technology.
With lack of devlopment room in LMP2 effectively forcing teams like Strakka into exodus and BR Engineering ludicrously into the arms of a dwindling LMP1-L championship, perhaps the key would be allowing manufacturers to built second-tier protoypes for customer teams, thus keeping manufacturers in the sport and solving the pay driver issue, as professional drivers would still required to showcase technology.
It will definitely will be an interesting few years.
