said. “I think it’s going to be really challenging for all of us but street courses are always fun to drive, and as a driver you can always find a little bit more within yourself with all the different lines.”

Bunmi Ade: Are you considering doing Formula E next season too if your IndyCar commitments permit and schedules don’t clash?

Simona de Silvestro: Yes for sure, for now my situation is pretty open. I don’t really have a race deal for a full season. I got the call from Andretti to come here (in London) to race so we’ll see how it goes. There’s always opportunities, so if the opportunity is right then why not.

BA: Do you feel any extra pressure being the only remaining woman in the series (there were other women at the beginning of the series) you probably get asked this a lot!

SdS: Not really… you know because that’s always how racing has been. Most of the racing series I was in, I was always the only one (female) so you don’t feel that way. At the end of the day you try to do the best job you can in the race car and that’s what’s important so I don’t think about that to be honest.

BA: Have you had much time for simulation runs?

SdS: Not really. You know I’ve never really driven the car. I’ve done a little bit of simulation – you know just to get used to everything and stuff like that. So tomorrow will be really busy learning about everything especially the track – nobody knows it – and when you don’t know the car, it is even trickier. The track is very narrow, pretty bumpy and a lot of shapes so we’ll see what happens.

BA: that Andretti is bringing new partners like TE Connectivity on board

SdS: I think Andretti is doing an incredible job to bring in sponsorship. I’m happy to be back in orange because these are the colours I was wearing at Indy 500 so it’s really cool to be together in this venture for this weekend.
