ABT Sportsline driver Lucas diGrassi not only extended his lead in Monaco but the team has also extended his contract through to the end of the 2015/16 season.

Here’s what team boss Hans-Jürgen Abt had to say:

“I’m delighted and also quite proud that Lucas will be part of our team in the future… We both knew what we wanted and reached an agreement immediately.

The negotiations didn’t even take thirty minutes before we shook hands…. Lucas is one of the absolute top drivers in Formula E. Of course, we know that he is hot property because of his strengths on and off the track. With this in mind, we wanted to close this issue as fast as possible.”

diGrassi (now 30 years old) didn’t hesitate to re-sign with the German team saying:

I’ve got to know and appreciate the ABT Sportsline team over the last few months.

I didn’t hesitate for a second when it came to extending the contract… We’ve been through a lot in the time we’ve spent together. The team and I have ambitious targets in Formula E and I’m convinced that we will reach them together.”

Before his (new) home race, the Brazilian said, “It goes without saying that this race is a special highlight for me… I’m pleased that the future is sorted out and we can concentrate solely on the weekend. Our goal is to arrive at our team’s home race in Berlin as championship leader.”
