Think about the future

Well that’s it for another year… Well the traditional motor sport year at least!

While most of Europe was battening down the hatches for Christmas, the Formula E grid was sunning themselves on the beaches of Punta Del Este last weekend and found some time to inject a final bit or motor racing into a packed calendar.

Jaguar announced its shock return to motor sport in what can only be described as a seismic event for the industry. With Williams Advanced Engineering on board it definitely signals a shifting in the tide in terms of where manufacturers are willing to spend their money.

Likewise, Porsche are pushing full steam ahead with their Mission E project, Porsche is continuing to back sustainable growth. The company will be investing around 700 million euros in its main site along with 1,000 new jobs are being created in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen alone.

And there’s similar news across the pond, with Padmasree Warrior, the former chief technology and strategy officer at Cisco Systems, signing on as the new U.S. CEO and global chief development officer at (Team China naming rights sponsor) NextEV. If she’s anything like her namesake Warrior’s appointment should be a shot in the arm for the Chinese start-up quest to take on Tesla and accelerate Formula E’s popularity in China.
