KCMG ANNOUNCE TEAM MANAGER
A bid to strengthrn its statue in Le Mans Prototype racing, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) has announced Maarten De Busser as WEC Team Manager ahead of the 2014 season.
De Busser’s appointment comes on the back of KCMG’s recent collaboration with French constructor ORECA, who are to helping facilitate the team’s technical efforts in the WEC. The move does hint of a possible unofficial factory tie-up with the French manufacturer.
“We are very pleased to welcome KCMG within ORECA’s family” said ORECA President, Hugues de Chaunac. Asia, just like America, is a very important connection to us.. The team intends to conquer endurance racing and we are determined to support that process.”
De Busser’s expertise is highlighted by his success as Engineer and Team Manager, leading teams to podiums and victories in various single-seater championships namely Asian Formula Renault, Toyota Racing Series and Formula Renault 2.0. The Belgian also worked as Technical Director for MP Motorsport in the GP2 Series in 2013.
De Busser, who assisted the international motorsport group in its racing campaigns in Asia (primarily Formula Masters) will main the helm as the young Asian team enters their first full FIA World Endurance Championship and its second assault on the French endurance classic, 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“ Although we are a young team, we have an excellent group of people, all experts in their fields, and we’ll be working with the most renowned partners during this season, so I’m confident we can achieve good results” said De Busser. “When the question came to be part of the 2014 team for the FIA World Endurance Championship and the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours, the answer was rather easy.”
